Dr. Charles Wendo- Chairman
DrWendo has over twenty years’ experience in health and science journalism; is editor of a weekly newspaper and of a health and science pullout.
His key strengths are his ability to comprehend scientific issues and transform them into interesting and comprehensible articles for the lay public, he is good with hands-on training and mentoring; has a proven record in growing Facebook audience for a weekly newspaper.
He has experience in design and production of print materials and working knowledge of data journalism
Tom Tegulle Gawaya- General Secretary
For over twenty years, Tegulle has trained journalists of print and electronic media in reporting on corruption, governance, conflict-sensitive reporting, human rights, international law, story writing, feature writing, political analysis; hosted talk shows for both radio and television and has covered media stories in conflict zones.
His technical skills are in applying Constitutional law, Criminal law, Jurisprudence and International law to women and children’s human rights, conflict reporting and war situations; and Research experience on a range of topics around governance, gender sexual violence, HIV/AIDs.
His expertise in strategic planning, program management, including project design, proposal development, oversight, monitoring and evaluation in HIV and AIDS, public health, nutrition, maternal and child health is commendable.
He has written several publications, user guides and articles for mainstream publication and also has extensive experience in teaching English and Kiswahili to private groups and individuals.
Baguma has over twenty years’ experience in developing and implementing national capacity building initiatives for the media and public awareness campaigns, developing a communication, media and advocacy strategy, and developing health subject matter media modules, pre-testing them and conducting onsite media trainings.
He has been Team leader for the development of nutrition journalists training manual, conducting media trainings on nutrition, and coordinating media campaigns on nutrition.
He supervised and coordinated operations of the Radio Current Affairs Section, deputizing for Head of Political and Economic Affairs Section, and reporting, producing, editing news and programmes for TV/Radio.
He also has experience in training diploma students in broadcasting and media management.
Dan Marlone – Treasurer
Dan is a private media practitioner, and the proprietor of Marlone Multimedia, a registered media agency, and a documentary filmmaker.
He is also passionate about health and consumer protection issues, about which he has reported with the national broadcaster, Uganda Broadcasting Corporation television (UBC TV), as a freelance journalist. He has also been contributing a weekly ‘Consumer Guide/Insight’ column to Uganda’s leading daily, the New Vision on various topics of consumer interest.
Currently, he is the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Consumer Action Network (U-CAN), an emerging consumer advocacy group.
He also represents the consumers on the Electricity Regulatory Authority’s Installation Permits Committee, which is responsible for awarding permits to all wire men (electricians) in Uganda.
